Welcome Fr. Scott Jones!

Fr. Scott Jones was born and raised in East Central Florida on the “Space Coast”. He attended the University of Florida in Gainesville where he earned a degree in accounting. After graduation he took a position with a CPA firm in Miami and there met his wife, Yolanda. In 1990 Fr. Scott left accounting and established a commercial janitorial service and a supply company in South Florida that he operated for 14 years.
Fr. Scott is a life-long Episcopalian. As an adult, he was a member of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Miami Lakes, Florida. In 2002, Fr. Scott perceived God’s call to seek ordained ministry in the Church. After a process of personal, family, and Church community discernment, he moved his family to Austin, Texas to attend the Seminary of the Southwest. He graduated with a Masters of Divinity Degree in May, 2007.
After seminary, Fr. Scott was called to serve at Good Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church in Cave Creek, where he was ordained to the priesthood in July 2007 and served as Associate Rector there until his arrival here at St. Mark’s. During his time at Good Shepherd, he functioned as the Priest in Charge twice, the first during the Rector’s sabbatical from December 2007 through March 2008, and most recently after the Rector’s retirement in January 2009.
Fr. Scott is a huge University of Florida Gator fan and his other interests include reading, listening to music (classical and classic rock are his favorites), gardening, taking walks, barbequing, and playing tennis. He and Yolanda have two children. Amy, who is 22, is a real estate agent living in North Carolina. She and her husband Kenny are expecting their first child in June. Son Sean, 18, is a freshman at the University of Texas in Austin.
