Welcome to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Mesa on the Web
On behalf of the Vestry and People of St. Mark’s Parish, I welcome you to our website and to our virtual community. We are delighted that you found us, and we hope that this website will provide you with a good introduction to who we are and to the ministries in which we are engaged. Of course, a true introduction would not be complete until you come to visit us in person at 322 N. Horne Street at the corner of University Avenue in Mesa. We warmly welcome you to join us for worship at any of the following liturgies:
Wednesdays – 10am, Holy Eucharist or 7pm, Holy Eucharist with Healing
Saturdays – 5:30pm, Holy Eucharist Rite II.
Sundays – 7:45am, Holy Eucharist Rite I.
9:10am, Contemporary Praise Holy Eucharist
11:00am, Choral Holy Eucharist Rite II.
We are a diverse group of pilgrims who are seeking God and a deepening experience of the holy in our lives. We come from many different backgrounds and from many parts of the United States. It is not unusual for our congregation to swell in size during the months from October to April as many members come to make Arizona their winter home. We are grateful for our part year and for our full year residents, and we strive to stay connected through prayer, through our parish newsletter, and through this virtual community on the web. In the near future, we hope to add a link to pictures of recent events at St. Mark’s Church, and a direct link to the Rector’s Blog where Fr. Jeremy will post thoughts and ideas and visitors can respond with comments or questions. For now, see http://mesarector.blogspot.com/
We welcome you to join with us in growing in the knowledge and love of God. As we are fed with the Word of God and the Sacraments of Our Lord Jesus Christ, we then set forth into our neighborhood and our city to serve others in the name of God. Our food pantry is always ready with resources for those who are hungry in our midst. Our Outreach Team constantly provides support to our neighbors including Edison Elementary School and the many families who have real needs in Mesa. We also minister to the wider world through our participation in the Outreach ministries of the Diocese of Arizona, through Habitat for Humanity, and through the ministry of Episcopal Relief and Development. As we near our one hundredth year as a parish, we look forward to responding in an intentional and strategic way to the United Nations Millennium Development Goals as we seek to make poverty history.
We are a church that takes the Holy Bible seriously, that worships in traditional ways yet incorporates contemporary technology, that values the application of reason and of the intellect to understanding faith, and that strives to practice the radical love and hospitality of Jesus as we seek and serve Christ in all persons. Come, taste and see – discover whether this community may be a place which you may call home along your spiritual journey.
May God bless you!
Fr. Jeremy M. Warnick,
Rector
